I Love the '00's!

I first heard this song when we took GK to see Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. I fell in love!

Videos I've Been Watching Lately

Anybody else watch the MTV Video Music Awards last Sunday? I'm not really sure why Lady Gaga tried to recreate her video. She normally takes an element of the concept and twists it into something new and different. Instead, her performance looked rather stilted with all the costume changes. Theories? Comments?

On the other hand, staying with her grandparents and eating some good West Virginian homecooking seems to have done wonders for her. This is the healthiest she's looked in a lo-o-o-ong time!

Writing Inspiration from Howard Stern

Listen to this Howard Stern interview with Lady Gaga. About the forty minute mark, Lady Gaga talks about perseverance. Substitute "singer/songwriter" with "writer" and "music industry" with "publishing industry" and you'll get a very good idea if you have what it takes to succeed in this crazy business.

You Know You Have It Made When . . .

. . .when Weird Al Yanovic does a parody of your Top 40 hit. I can't wait to see what he does for the visuals for this! Weird Al's new album will be out June 21st!

I Need a Freakin' Time Machine

Sorry, guys and gals!

My intended post for today isn't finished.  The flu nailed everyone at the Day Job, so I've been pulling extra shifts the last week and a half since I'm the last healthy one standing during our second busiest time of the year.  Ironic considering I'm the one who's immuno-compromised.  *grin*

Today, I've GOT to get caught up on homeschool stuff and editing the stories I want to e-publish.

So in the meantime, if you missed Sunday's Grammy awards, here's Lady Gaga's performance of her new single:

Bad Romance

For the guys in Kuwait who love the Moulin Rouge edition of 'Lady Marmalade,' I have a feeling you'll like this video too.

The Latest Obsession

When DH and I took GK to see Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, I couldn't get the tune from the casino scene out of my head. I was suprised to learn this was the infamous Lady Gaga.

(Hey, I work in a mall. The only teen discussions I overheard concerning her didn't involve her music.)

The Green-Eyed Monster - Part II

Currently reading - No Mercy by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Last June, I talked about feeling jealousy over other writers getting what you think you deserve, whether it be appointments, your ultimate agent, contracts, etc.

So what happens when you're on the other side of the equation? You're the recipient of the good fortune, and all of your friends start treating you differently?

It sucks.

The big one.

Here's the thing. When the really good things happen to you, you're going to find out real quick who your friends are. Sometimes it's ugly. Just effing ugly. Guess what? It really isn't you. It's them. And you can't do a damn thing to change their minds.

It doesn't mean you stoop to their level. Be yourself. Be polite. Be reasonable. Be proud of your accomplishments.

And if someone gets in your face, you politely, reasonably, and very firmly tell them they are out of line. Otherwise ignore the naysayers, and remember the people who do appreciate you for being exactly who you are.
