The New Shiny!
NOW!
I don't understand the folks who complain about not getting ideas. I literally can't shut my brain off. I get stories out of my head and on paper/screen as fast as I can. However, the Muse fills up the empty gray matter as fast as she can.
The weird thing is the new series I'm planning to finish over the summer isn't new. It was actually started nearly twenty years. In fact, I was halfway through writing the first novel. Then I made a huge mistake.
I showed my work-in-progress to a NYTBS author I really admired. She told me it sucked.
Talk about a gut punch.
I put away the pages and files for that story. It hurt too much to look at them. Then a couple of years ago, I was re-organizing my work spaces, physical and electronic in preparation for moving to the current house. I found that old half-novel. I started to read it.
And you know something. It wasn't bad. In fact, it was pretty good. Yes, I've grown as a writer. That was pretty obvious. But the overall story is pretty cool. And I really want to finish the series now.
But I need to finish the other stuff I've promised people.
First, I need more caffeine!

Just a Note to Say...
Then I need to jump back on Queer Eye for the Super Guy since Jeremy's in the middle of a murder investigation of an up-and-coming designer he took a shine to. (More of a possible protege. Jaye's firmly committed to his husband.)
Hope to have some more news by the end of this week!

Glacier Beat
He currently has a Kickstarter campaign for some standalone novels featuring Police Constable Petra Jensen, the protagonist of the Greenland Missing Persons series. This would be a great place for new readers to jump on board!
The best comparison for Chris's book, I'd make is Steig Larrson's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. If you like gritty realism in a beautiful and deadly country, check out the Glacier Beat Kickstarter.

Update on Releases
Now before anyone starts on my case about exercise, I do get up frequently for breaks, and I take Princess Bella for may short walks during the day.
No, my problem is stress. And when I'm stressed, it settles in my hips and lower back. The teeny, tiny tendons and ligaments torque, the muscles spasm, and anything short of deep pressure point techniques doesn't relieve the pain. And there's no point of getting a pressure point massage if I don't deal with the source of the stress.
Therefore, I called Amazon on Monday and politely begged them to let me push back the release of Queer Eye for the Super Guy for a month, and Cecilia, the representative I spoke with graciously allowed me to do so.
Those of you who preordered Queer Eye should have received a notice from Amazon by now about the delay. The last thing I want to do is put out a half-assed product. As of this writing, I have roughly three and a half chapters left to write on Death in Double Mocha. It will of course be sent to the Soccer Moms of the Apocalypse Kickstarter campaign first, but it will be available to the general public in June.
Queer Eye for the Super Guy is a little over a third of the way finished, but the idea's have been in my head for so long that the writing is going fairly quickly. It will be released on May 12th.

Death's Disciple
Death's Disciple is my friend Emma L. Adams' Kickstarter campaign for the first book in her brand new series.
Her graphic tells you all the reasons I love her writing. Plus she's sweet and very British which adds to my love for her.
There's also an awesome hardback edition if ebooks aren't your thing.
You still have a little over a week to back this incredible project!

Spring and Its Holidays
For me, it's the joy of longer days and the spring flowers blooming in my backyard.
May everyone have a peaceful and lovely weekend!

The Best Laid Plans
No, no, no. It's not me this time. Exactly.
I lent an ear to a friend who's having their own problems. This person was a rock for me when I was diagnosed with cancer. The least I can do is provide similar support during their trials.
Plus, a couple of ideas I've been toying with for Justice's 10th anniversary found an artist last week. A very enthusiastic artist who thinks these projects are awesome ideas. And boom! We're off and running. Frankly, it's literally going to take the next two and a half years to complete fruition for these projects, but I think the fans of the Justice series will love them.
Both the artist and I are concerned about our friendly business partnership surviving a project of this size and scope. But the fact that we're not glossing over anything gives me hope. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we can pull this off.
The weird thing is I'm totally scared. But in a good way. It's the same scared feeling I had when I signed up to take the LSAT, when I started dating DH, and when I pressed the publish button the first time on Amazon.
Anyway.
I needed to get this off my chest so I could focus on writing today/tonight. Wish me luck!

Things Are Going to Be Quiet on the Blog This Week
Once the paperbacks for Death in Double Mocha arrive, I can start shipping the last of my Kickstarter reward packages.
In the meantime, I'm in the initial stages of putting together a sooper sekrit project for 2025. Okay, I'll give you a hint--it'll be the Justice series 10th anniversary.
More cool stuff is coming your way!
