New Year. New Ways.

It's Samhain. Halloween. The Celtic New Year. And here's a New Year's resolution that needs to be heard and repeated. It's already happening in publishing. It needs to spread.

    I admit I'm one of those rare breeds known as a centrist.

    But when I see friends' contracts with perpetuity clauses, when I hear about contracts where the writer has to ASK PERMISSION just to POST A BLOG, when I read about folks who are fired because one of their employees had one bad day, I have to wonder WTF is wrong with our society?

    It seems instead of feudal lords, we now have corporate lords. Maybe 1984 isn't so far off after all.
