More Holiday E-Book News

Barnes & Noble is advertising a free copy of the new James Patterson novella Merry Christmas, Alex Cross with the purchase of Patterson's latest novel Kill Alex Cross and one other Patterson novel IN ANY FORMAT from any B&N store.  Yes, you guessed it. The kicker is that customer can buy the harcover and an e-book from the physical store AT THE SAME time!

Plus, the customer has a choice of getting the free novella in the paper version or the e-version.

Maybe the execs at B&N do have a clue or two.  I don't have more details yet (another thing to pump the kids at the local B&N about).

This is an interesting development if B&N has developed their internal software systems to trigger a download to your NOOK or NOOK app from their stores' registers.

Big 6 Underreporting E-Sales?

If you haven't read this yet, I strongly suggest you read Kris Rusch's blog post from last Wednesday.

And if you're published with a traditional publisher, and they're selling your e-books, please, PLEASE check your royalty statements carefully.

All I can say is I wish I were surprised by this.

Digital Book World 2011

Currently reading - Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews

If you haven't been keeping up with the latest info out of last week's DBW conference, Bob Mayer has a run-down at Write It Forward.  Lots of interesting tidbits.

And frankly, it sounds to me as if a lot of publishers are running scared.

Right now, I LOVE being a writer!

Free Read by Seth Godin

Whether or not you're a writer, read Seth Godin's blog. Seth has a unique way of looking at the universe that will expand your mind without the use of LSD. Part of the problem all writers have is creating something different enough to attract a buyer, but not so different that the work scares the buyer. Seth got me to analyze my current wip in a new way that I hope makes it more attractive to an editor.

Seth has a free e-book, Insubordinate. It's short. Go read it. Then tell me what you think.
