Sporadic Blogging Ahead!

My blogging has already been sporadic thanks to several life rolls this year. Just when I think I'm getting back into a regular routine, Murphy strikes again!

Last week, one of the sisters-in law (SIL #4) and her husband went to collect their daughter (Niece #4) from college in Indiana for Thanksgiving Break. They stopped by SIL #2's house since she lives in the same town, having recently retired as a professor from Niece #4's alma mater.

It turned out to be a good thing SIL #4 and family were at SIL #2's place because she fell and broke her arm. Needless to say, SIL #2 needs a little extra help. SIL #4 is there this week.

I'll be heading to Indiana on Saturday to relieve SIL #4 for a week. After that, we'll see.

I've had a broken arm. It was incredibly painful and awkward when I was nineteen. Now, that we're all on the downhill side of 50, we don't bounce back like we did in our teens.

Hopefully, I will be able to get in some words next week in between cooking and caring for SIL #2 and her three dogs. If not? Well, there's always new goals to set for 2026!

Head Colds and Allergies

Goldenrod and ragweed are in the midst of hot plant sex in our area, so I'm already miserable. I also made the mistake of remarking to some friends that with the mask and social distance mandates, I haven't been ill since December of 2019.

In my hubris, the great god Murphy took the opportunity to strike me down with a summer cold.

I'm struggling through some edits, and I'll try to write during my sprint time with a friend later tonight. In the meantime, I sucking down fluids, staying away from DH, and praying this doesn't turn into a sinus infection.

First World Problems

It's been a crazy-ass week, and it's only Wednesday. I've been busy lining stuff up for next Monday's release of A Matter of Death and trying to finish writing the next Bloodlines novella, Reality Bites.

Monday, DH made arrangements with a shipping company to transport our Corvette from Texas to Ohio. They didn't have a truck available until next month, so no problem, right? We needed to get through the rest of the boxes still sitting in the second garage.

But on the heels of that phone call, the security consultant doing the background check GK before he ships off to boot camp is on her way to interview DH and talk to our complex manager. She wanted to talk to a neighbor, but all the grad students on our floor moved out in May, and all new people moved in a couple of weeks ago.

In the meantime, I'm running around like a crazy person with first quarter follow-ups with my medical personnel. Oh, and our rent check disappeared somewhere between me putting it in the office door slot back on June 21st and the assistant manager arriving the following morning.

Tuesday morning, the shipping company calls. Hey, we have a truck available! It's at your friend's garage to pick your car NOW! And it'll be in Ohio on Thursday.

Remember those boxes in the garage here? Yeah, last night the three of us were scrambling to deal with them. But it's so frickin' hot and humid, we only managed about a third of the work.

This morning, the truck driver himself called DH. He's making good time and should arrive by 7 p.m.

Since the car is an antique and we have it insured as such, we have to have a garage to put it in. Which means the first garage where DH's car is because it has a leak where the new windshield was put in years ago. So we're crossing our fingers that it doesn't rain for the next couple of days while we finish cleaning out the boxes.

But it's hot, so I'll keep writing until it cools down a bit for the evening...

Murphy Is the One True God

Dear Readers,

I'm so very disappointed to say that any new releases scheduled for 2018 will be delayed indefinitely. My body has run into a brand-new issue that necessitates a bunch of diagnostic clinic and assorted doctor visits.

What does this mean for the current books-in-progress exactly? I will continue to write in between various scans, the taking of bits of flesh and blood for assorted tests, and talking to medical personnel. However, my mind is not in a place to concentrate on the finer details of publishing, such as editing and marketing.

Once we know the extent of the issue and we have a treatment plan in place, I'll let you all know the revised release schedule.

In the meantime, blogging may also become sporadic for the reasons above. Thankfully, I'm a few blogs ahead. LOL

Thank you for your patience.

Love,
Suzan
